REM Atelier
REM Atelier is a collaborative art and design studio that started in 2015 in Rotterdam—the Netherlands. Led by Remty Elenga and Remco van Halderen, the name REM represents the first shared letters of their names and, more symbolically, the blending of their expanded field of practices. Together, they explore the relationship between design and space by means of cutting-edge technology and craft ceramic techniques.
The duo creates objects and installations that playfully question both functionality and decor in everyday objects.Revolving around observation and experience of materiality, often led by an interest in organic structures, REM Atelier’s work investigates the process of organically shaped objects versus artificial representation. Collaboratively, they aim to shape an alternative space, subjecting the surroundings to the artwork.
Prioritizing the holistic experience of the work, their objects unquestionably contribute to the evolving discourse of today’s collectible design.
