Flavie Van Der Stigghel
Flavie Van der Stigghel is a French artist, she lives and works in the south of France. She creates intense sculptures marked by a striking visual and psychological complexity, in which abstraction mingle with figuration.
Far from formal minimalism, her work offers an alternative approach to the artistic tradition of ceramic—one in which she confronts tribal and spiritual references in the silence of the clay. In her sculptures, the soft mixes with the rough, the voids contrast with the volumes, and in the same piece a flamboyant enamel can confuse the viewer with metal or steel.
In a relationship with space, Flavie Van Der Stigghel stretches the clay to its limit. This sensitive dynamic is intensified by the geometric structures that characterize her constructions. Combining technical intensity with spontaneity, her work stands before us with a constant density.
