Camille Le Dressay
Starting as an architect, artist Camille Le Dressay discovered for the needs of a construction site, the ceramic creations of Valentine Schlegel and Guy Bareff. She enrolled training at the Ateliers des Arts Céramiques in Tours and worked relentlessly as a self-taught in her studio around her favorite theme: the light.
Her sculptural pieces are in-depth studies of light – its circulation and its instantaneousness. They are first and foremost sculptures, however many can be lit from the inside and become functional as gentle light sources. The sculptures are comprised of a continuous array of volumes, forms, and shadows. The ceramic intertwines – the lines join, mix, and merge. This creates multiple perspectives and cavities, inviting the viewer into different angles for contemplation.
Her inspirations are quite numerous. Architecture’s influence is very apparent in her work, but she’s also inspired by natural phenomena. The immensity of terrestrial formations, both underwater and on land, and the microscopic complexity of flora and fauna both strike her as something important to consider, to preserve, and to bring into relief through her practice.
